Who knew that having a crush could get you suspended from school? Well, 18-year-old Patrick Farves was forced to learn the hard way after he asked 2014 Miss America winner Nina Davuluri out to prom on Thursday.

It all started when Davuluri came to visit Central York High School in Pennsylvania to talk with students about diversity and the importance of science, technology, engineering, and math studies, USA Today reports.

Farves was immediately taken with the pageant beauty and began telling his friends how he had plans to ask her out.

School officials caught wind of Farve's romantic endeavors and warned him not to do go forward with his plans but Farves would not take no for an answer.

"At that point in time, it was 10 minutes before the presentation, and I was pretty much set to do it," Farves told the York Dispatch. "I was a little pressured. Everybody expected me to do it. I'm the kind of person who, if someone says I won't do something, I'll prove people wrong. I will."

During a Q&A session between the students and Davuluri, Farves mustered up some courage, asked Davuluri if she would go to prom with him, presented the beauty queen with a plastic flower, and even asked her to take a selfie.

Nothing like a selfie to seal the deal.

Davuluri coyly responded, "Maybe later."

Following Farves' bold proposal, the students began to cheer in uproar but student administrators had a completely different response to what went down. Farves was quickly pulled down from the assembly and given three days of in-school suspension.

Better luck next time, Pat.

Though Farves may not have gotten his dream date with a beauty queen, he has since apologized for his actions and even described his antics as a "slap in the face" to his school's administration.

"I do understand why the administration was mad," he told the Dispatch. "I don't want to be the kind of person to try to justify myself ... I didn't intend to disrespect the administration. I can see how it was seen as a slap in the face. I want to give a shout out to Miss America for being a good sport."
