Hulu Releases Trailer for ‘The Path’ Starring ‘Breaking Bad’ Star Aaron Paul [Watch]
It is probably safe to assume that new series on Hulu "The Path" is going to be somewhat intense, judging by the trailer that was just released for the upcoming show.
According to Uproxx, the show features "Breaking Bad" alum Aaron Paul in a starring role opposite Michelle Monaghan and "Hannibal" star Hugh Dancy. There are also no restrictions on content for the show, given that it is going to be on a streaming network.
The show is the brainchild of creator Jason Katims, who also played key roles in the productions of "Friday Night Lights" and "Parenthood."
The story has a very basic premise, but the storylines for each episode are somewhat complex. As the trailer clearly shows, the main plot follows a man (Paul) who experiences a crisis of faith, letting his Christian faith slip away from him under the pressures of modern society.
However, the protagonist doesn't simply fall into atheism. Rather, he is scooped up by a different kind of religion, headed by a fanatic cult leader (Dancy).
There are many ways that things can go wrong when a man and breadwinner for a family takes up an extreme faith. The series looks to take several dramatic twists and turns, likely ultimately ending with tragic consequences fans will never see coming.
While Paul's character begins the trailer as a devoted husband to Monaghan and father to their children, by the end of the clip, a chilling climax may cast doubt on his happy ending, especially given the twists that could befall him outside broadcast TV.
Because the series is broadcasting on streaming service Hulu, there are no restrictions on graphic content. That means that viewers can expect the show to have a TV-MA rating, which it will no doubt use to good effect.
Fans can watch the trailer below. The series debuts on Hulu on March 30.
