‘The X-Files’ Spoilers: New Episode to Feature Armed Gunmen Taking Over UN
The revival of "The X-Files" series is wasting no time jumping right back into the controversial issues game. When it returns this month, there will be many episodes with these types of themes, including one where armed gunman take over a U.N. building, mirroring real life events.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the series started off way back in the early '90s doing much of same thing. But back then, they were taking on the government and accusing them off covering up alien activity on the planet.
The show has not abandoned its roots, but it going to be doing the same thing it started with but rather pointing the microscope at society with certain fringe right-wing tactics used on the show.
There will also be a character added to the show named Tad O'Malley, who is said to be a web host with a charming personality. He has been described as a loosely defined character that mirrors the real life personalities of Alex Jones and Glenn Beck, who are both right wing conspiracy theorists who have consistently blamed the Liberal media for problems in society. O'Malley will be taking up the same characteristics.
There is one point in the first episode where Agent Mulder (David Duchovny) compares him to Fox News Host Bill O'Reilly. But O'Malley quickly retorts, "What Bill O'Reilly knows about the truth can fill an eyedropper."
Although Mulder and Scully (Gillian Anderson) at first dismiss O'Malley as too fanatic to be taken seriously, they eventually latch on to his conspiracies for other themes that will be inherent in the six-episode series. In fact, in no uncertain terms, O'Malley becomes the central figure that drives all six episodes of the revival series and he is the one thing they all have in common.
There will also be some hostile shots taken at the NSA for their wiretapping operation as well as other issues that are currently plaguing society.
"The X-Files" returns to Fox on Jan. 21.
