Winning the lottery may be every person's dream, but there seems to be a downside to it. As per Remezcla, a 2013 Powerball Lottery winner went through turmoil after claiming his reward. A man by the name of Pedro Quezada from Passaic, New Jersey, was filled with excitement upon finding out that his numbers won.

Quezada won the fourth largest lottery jackpot back in 2013 which is in the amount of $338 million. The huge amount also came in with a bulk of problems for Quezada to tackle, such as facing lawsuits and a broken relationship.

Pedro Quezada once told Fox News that, "When I found out I had the winning ticket I felt pure joy and happiness because I can help my family. My life will change because it -- so much money, it will not change my heart."

He may be overjoyed but his happiness didn't last long after his long-time girlfriend and business partner, Inez Sanchez sued him after declaring that Quezada should give her half the money that he won.

As per Latinos Fox News' report back in 2014, Sanchez claimed that she should have half of what he won as Quezada purchased the ticket from their shared income (they both own a bodega). Sanchez however lost the lawsuit as it was stated that the couple never married despite the fact that they shared a child together.

They couple eventually got back together after Quezada paid for Sanchez's legal fees as per Remezcla.

On top of the lawsuit that his girlfriend filed, Quezada also went through chaos with his neighbors after news outlets made up rumors that Quezada will pay for his neighbors' rent.

Sreafim Ariza told Daily Mail that Quezada promised the entire street that he would be taking care of their rent, but he "never followed through." Despite the rumors that Pedro Quezada will pay for his neighbors' rent, his landlord on the other hand stated that Quezada himself wasn't able to pay his own rent in amounting to $7,250.

Aside from Quezada, there are numerous lottery winners that faced the same fate. One of which is Jack Whittaker, who won the $315 million lottery back in 2002.

During his interview with ABC News, Whittaker narrated how he went through hardships after winning as he lost some of his family members and got robbed while sitting in his car.

During his interview with ABC, Whittaker stated, "My granddaughter is dead because of the money you know, my wife had said she wished that she had torn the ticket up. Well, I wish that we had torn the ticket up, too."
