"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" was already a spectacular feat on its own, but it looks as if developer CD Projekt Red is looking to take the best-selling game another gear higher with the upcoming expansion that's expected to exceed the original.

According to a report from Game Spot, the game's senior writer Jakub Szamalek talked about the Blood and Wine in an interview with Eurogamer Italy. The upcoming expansion is an important piece of the plot as it is reportedly the last chapter of protagonist Geralt's story. "The Witcher 3" is expected to feature a different main character in the future content of the franchise.

Szamalek stressed the importance of player experience and feedback of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt", especially in CD Projekt Red's development of Blood and Wine. As a result, the team is looking forward to an expansion that will be "better than the main game".

One of the features that the fanbase can enjoy in Blood and Wine is the presence of a worthy antagonist. The writer explained that the original game lacked a memorable enemy, which is something CD Projekt Red resolved in the expansion by the introduction of a unique and unforgettable character to act as an opponent.

There will also be a more complex plotline that the gamers will hopefully find compelling and exciting.

The report added the official description of the expansion on Steam that said, "Blood and Wine is a 20-hour tale that will introduce the all-new in-game region of Toussaint, and will take Geralt to a land untainted by war, where an atmosphere of carefree indulgence and knightly ritual masks an ancient, bloody secret."

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" expansion Blood and Wine is slated for release in the first half of 2016. This comes after the first major update of the game launched recently that was able to provide a number of bug fixes and performance updates.

CD Projekt Red's game has been very successful and the community recognized it in the upcoming D.I.C.E. Awards (Design, Innovate, Communicate, Entertain) on Feb. 18, according to a report from PlayStation Lifestyle.

"The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" is nominated for a total of eight awards including Game of the Year, Outstanding Achievement in Game Direction, Outstanding Achievement in Character, Outstanding Achievement in Original Music Composition, Outstanding Achievement in Story, Outstanding Technical Achievement, Role-Playing/Massively Multiplayer Game of the Year and Outstanding Achievement in Game Design.
