The official announcement of the PS Plus free games list for February 2016 is likely still a couple of weeks away, but that doesn't stop PlayStation gamers from offering their predictions and suggestions for what Sony should release come next month.

Not a Hero for PS4?

Perhaps the top contender so far for the PlayStation Plus February 2016 free games list was suggested by gamer site Play-Mag, which noted that Not a Hero was announced for a release date on Feb. 2 2016. That's the first Tuesday of the month, when the PS Plus free games are released for subscribers to download.

Could Sony be planning to launch the frantic indie tactical shooter for PlayStation 4 for free in its first month to PS Plus subscribers?

The fact that it's an indie title helps, and its timing, the fact that it's launching when PS Plus free games hit the monthly PlayStation store update, indicates it's at least a possibility.

Also launching for PlayStation 4 on the same day is Crypt of the Necrodancer, another indie title that's become a critical darling.

Launching two high-quality indie titles for the PS4 as free PS Plus games is something Sony could do, but on the other hand, the company has a track record of including a mix of indie and old classics for each platform's free games of the month.

Crypt of the NecroDancer could maybe be a cross-buy title, though, since it's launching for PS Vita and PS4. The same cannot be said for Not a Hero.

Other Rumors

Other rumors for the February 2016 PS Plus free games list is the return of Vote to Play, which PlayStation has promised to run a few times per year. But for that to be true and happen in time for February, PlayStation would have to make an announcement pretty soon.

Of course the PlayStation Plus community has its own wish list, which includes Shovel Knight for PS4 or PS Vita, Resident Evil HD for PlayStation 3, and Metal Slug 3 as a PS3 and PS Vita cross-buy as the most popular predictions.
