Zinedine Zidane Plans to Whip Real Madrid Back to Shape
New boss Zinedine Zidane plans to shape things for Real Madrid despite routing Sporting Gijon recently.
Though the trashing was impressive, Zidane believes that there is a lot of room for improvement.
“We have a lot to improve on in terms of our fitness. What we want is to win games and, above all else, be in good shape towards the end of the campaign when everything is decided,” says Zidane via Marca.com
As far as the team’s last performance, Zidane credits it to focus. Everyone was on the same page in the first half, and everything followed from there.
Zizou bares that they will try to get in better shape in the next two weeks, which for him is more than enough to get better.
Since he took over from Rafa Benitez, Real Madrid has shown new energy and enthusiasm.
Cristiano Ronaldo is witness to the changes despite training with Zidane for only one week. He adds that Zizou brings a whole new concept to the club and says that the Frenchman sees the game differently from Benitez via USA Today.
"I honestly noticed an improvement in the team's attitude with Zidane's arrival," said Ronaldo. "The players feel a little more empathy for Zidane. Do not ask me why because I couldn't tell you. That's football."
With a new system in place, Zidane is expected to go with players he feels can fit his system, and of course, the ones who ihe s comfortable with.
With that, James Rodriguez comes to mind. The attacker is reportedly someone Zidane is not too fond off, and seen as the reason why Zizou went with Isco rather than him via Sport.
Despite that rumoured conflict, Zidane explains that it is all about chances and going with the team he feels should be on the field.
“Someone or other is going to play. Isco played today and then James came on for him. It's difficult. The thing I find difficult is naming the team the day before the game, but it's my responsibility. I have to make decisions. Everyone wants to play, but I understand that. What's important is the team, the squad,” explains Zidane.
If the word that Zidane is not exactly fond of Rodriguez is true, James could end up on the losing end. Moving out could be an option but the celebrated “transfer ban” may force him to sit on the bench and play only when Zizou calls him to play.
