Linda Perry Releases a Heartfelt Apology After Dissing Lady Gaga
Linda Perry made the headlines after dissing Lady Gaga's Oscar nomination on Twitter. As per E! Online's update however, the rock star already made amends with the Mother Monster by posting her apology on Twitter.
On her Twitter post, Linda Perry stated, "My sincere apologies. I made a mistake to comment. I wasn't in the room when the #TIHTY was being written."
She then posted a follow up tweet stating, "I wish the focus to remain on the great importance of the song and the message of the film."
The heated Twitter post made the headlines as Linda Perry hits on Lady Gaga's song "Till It Happens to You" which is part of the documentary "The Hunting Ground." The legendary singer slammed Gaga stating that the "Poker Face" singer did minimal writing on the song as it was originally written by Diane Warren.
As per the Hollywood Reporter, Perry's Tweet mentioned that Lady Gaga only "rewrote a line" where in she literally changed one line.
Perry's tweet stated, "The only line that has been changed [is] 'Till you're at the end, the end of your rope' originally was 'Til you got a hole ripped in your soul.' So I guess technically one line was changed so sure Gaga possibly 'rewrote' a line."
Perry then added fuel to the fire by stating that Gaga only contributed a few words in writing the song, which then Perry added, "But chances are Diane still took part in rewriting that line which means Gaga contributed a few words. Is that writing. Not in my book."
Perry also stated that she does love the song, Lady Gaga however should not take credit as she was not the one who wrote it.
In her Tweet, Perry stated, "I love Gaga so much respect and love this song that has nothing to do with anything. Why did Gaga get credit? Maybe because Diane wanted to ensure her support in promoting the song."
Perry already deleted the controversial post from her Twitter page.
As for Lady Gaga and Diane Warren, during a Podcast interview, both of them discussed on how the song came about. Gaga stated that she worked on the song with Diane.
Warren already finished the entire song before handing it over to Lady Gaga. According to both Lady Gaga and Diane Warren, the song was a "result of their collaboration."
