It was recently revealed that the new TV series, “Persiguiendo el Sol,” loosely follows the life of Colombian superstar Juanes. The Grammy winner announced the new show, which translates to “Chasing the Sun.”

NBC News revealed that “Persiguiendo el Sol” aims to provide innovative bicultural content on television. TV producer Ben Silverman collaborated with Juanes and his manager, Rebeca Leon, to create the new show after Juanes provided original songs to “Jane the Virgin.” Producer Eric Newman will also be onboard as showrunner.

“He’s the first American producer to bring American show running to America production,” Silverman said about Newman.

The show's cast has not yet been announced. However, fans can expect a number of cameo appearances by Juanes’ famous friends in the US and Latin America.

The title is named after the 2012 autobiography by Juanes, detailing his experiences during his stellar rise. The concept started after Silverman met Juanes through his manager in 2014. The musician was asked to join one episode of “Jane the Virgin” as well as provide several songs for the series. The producer wanted to work more with Juanes, considering the former’s huge interest in Latin-themed projects.

“Persiguiendo el Sol” is set to film in Miami and Colombia in the spring or summer 2016. Contact Music stated that the show will feature the early life of the musician in Colombia as well as his transfer to Miami, Florida, where he became a huge star.

Billboard wrote that it will be a fusion between the drug drama “Narcos” and the comedy “Entourage,” according to Silverman. It seems that the show will have an edgy tone as well as some humor.

The bilingual show is set to start filming by mid-2016. It will also be offered to potential production partners. Silverman is the founder and chairman of Electus, an entertainment company. He will be featuring the show concept to potential partners in Latin and mainstream media. Silverman has worked on various Latin-themed productions in the past including “Ugly Betty,” “Killer Women” and the bilingual film, “Hands of Stone,” which will be launched in April 2016.

Juanes is also getting more involved in mainstream TV and film. In 2015, “Juntos,” a song he co-wrote with Colombian Fonseca, was played for the ending credits of the Disney movie “McFarland USA.”

There is still no official launch date for “Persiguiendo el Sol.” More updates and details on the cast and plot are expected in the coming months.
