The second half of Season 8 of "Castle" is set to be highlighted by a stretch of three new shows over an eight day period.

TVLine reports the second half the season officially kicks off on Feb.8 with the airing of the competitive a cappella-themed episode "Tone Death." Show execs will then air special episode "Witness for the Prosecution" on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14.

The show will then return to its regularly scheduled Monday night airing the next night with the episode "Dead Red," guest starring "Spartacus" alum Nick Tarabay as a Russian diplomat with special immunity.

The "Witness for the Prosecution," episode is being billed as the first time the series will actually air a courtroom trial stemming from one of the many crimes the husband and wife team of Castle (Nathan Fillion) and Beckett (Stana Katic) have solved together.

"For the first time ever in 'Castle' history, you go into a courtroom, you actually see a trial based on a case," co-showrunner Alexi Hawley recently told TVLine.

Rick is called to testify in a murder case in the episode. Though the case isn't actually one fans have seen unfold on screen, the episode is still being heralded as one that takes viewers down memory lane, delving into several cases the crew has previously investigated.

"I think it will be a treat for our longtime fans," co-showrunner Terence Paul Winter said. "It refers to several things that have happened in the last few years."

Beyond that, the mere idea of seeing Castle on the stand and under oath seems to offer limitless possibilities for intrigue.

"He's an 'interesting' guy to give testimony," Winter said. "He has to take the stand, and it kind of goes sideways."

Later, Hawley hinted the fallout from Castle's testimony, in and off itself, leaves the crew in full damage control mold.
