With Steve Kerr finally back in harness, interim head coach Luke Walton slides down to his old assistant coaching role once again.

The question is, will Walton be there for long?

Walton has undoubtedly captured the eye of other teams so it would not be surprising if he ends up landing a head coaching gig elsewhere.

With all due respect to Kerr who was forced on the sidelines due to a back injury, Walton proved to one and all that he can call the shots perfectly if he is given the opportunity to do so. However, will that magic work for Walton with another team?

The fact remains that the Golden State Warriors are a special team. They have Steph Curry, Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, who were all willing to adjust and know their roles.

With that said, Walton’s magic on other teams may not necessary work, especially with players who rant about being superstars and not wanting to adjust for the benefit of the whole team.

No names need to be mentioned but before the Warriors won the NBA title last year, no one really noticed them. Despite having tasted NBA gold, the Warriors are pretty much the same though with a little bit of attitude, as they will not allow themselves to be pushed around.

Walton will draw suitors, likely in the same way that Alvin Gentry was taken in by the New Orleans Pelicans for the head coaching chores. Before the season ends, it will not be surprising if Walton ends up pretty much the same.

Among the teams that Fox Sports believes will come knocking are the Houston Rockets and the Brooklyn Nets. Both are struggling right now, and a new coach taking over seems imminent.

Then there is Walton’s former team, the Los Angeles Lakers. Though Byron Scott reportedly still has a lock on his job, not too many believe he will be around by the end of this season.

Other teams who could invite Walton for a job interview include the Washington Wizards, the Phoenix Suns, New York Knicks or even the Portland Trailblazers, as detailed by FanSided.

Right now, there is no one team that has signified any intention of talking to Walton. However, seeing that the NBA is in the middle of the season, all that could be saved perhaps once the NBA post season comes around.

Given the choice, the Warriors would be against Walton leaving, but like Gentry, an opportunity to become a head coach will be tough to pass up, unless Walton has reason to decline a job offer due to some loose ends or personal reasons.
