A Latino's Survival Guide for January's 'Snowpocalypse'
With the most intense snowstorm in recent years covering the East Coast, people have been forced to pass the days indoors. Yes, there is central heating, and the blizzard is not bad enough to warrant a power outage, but then again, what do you do when the most prominent snowstorm is raging through the region?
Thus, in order to survive this year's aptly-named "Snowpocalypse," here are some tips we can give you so that, you know, the extreme, white coldness becomes a little bit warmer for you.
Buy groceries. Lots of them.
Getting out into the open and traversing through a ton of snow is quite a chore. Apart from this, it is also quite dangerous. Remezcla stated that with the all the snow being dumped on the East Coast today, it is best to practice buying a lot of groceries at a time. After all, the more you stock up, the less you have to go out to resupply.
Unfollow Your West Coast Friends' Social Media Accounts (At least temporarily)
Your friends in the West Coast are enjoying the sun, and there is nothing that will pain you more than to see their selfies that are taken at a lush green park. Face it, you don't really need that right now. At least temporarily, save yourself the agony and unfollow them.
Fix Your Netflix Queue
Being indoors now equates to tons and tons of Netflix. With this said, fix up your Netflix queue and sit down with a mug of hot cocoa, reported The Boston Magazine. There are tons and tons of programming that you can watch. Our recommendation? Check out these lists of the best Latino programming available on the popular streaming service.
Cook Some Excellent Spicy Latino Dishes
It's pretty amusing, but the hot and spicy bite of our cooking has made our cuisine quite famous. Take this unnaturally cold season as a chance to cook up some Latino classics for your family. Even conventional Mexican dishes work like charms to fight the cold. So whip up some enchilada and fight the cold, Latino style. Just don't order food from outside. You don't want to be the insensitive jerk who forces a delivery guy to tackle the cold just to get you food.
Cuddle Up
Oh, and of course, this is our favorite. If you're living in with a partner, this would be a good time to show them why we Latinos ended up with the stereotype of being romantic and sweet. Cuddle up with your loved one. Trust me. There's no better way to fight the cold than this.
