Puerto Rican Designer Wilfredo Rosado is the creative talent behind the diamond engagement ring that billionaire businessman James Packer gave music superstar Mariah Carey on Jan. 21.

According to Vogue, Packer called on Rosado, Carey's friend of over 25 years, to create the 35-carat stunner.

It took the Boricua jewelry designer two weeks of 12-hour work days to make. To create a design, Rosado was inspired by Carey's style and past conversations with the singer.

Rosado explained he wanted to create a ring that could not compare and something that embodied new beginnings for the superstar, who split from ex-husband Nick Cannon in 2015.

“She obviously has a strong point of view about what she likes...I wanted to give her something super sophisticated and something that took away all of the embellishments that a lot of people use when they design engagement rings these days," he said. "But it is epic. It’s an epic ring for an epic time in her life."

The designer shared a photo of the massive ring on social media, which he revealed Packer consulted on a few times during the design process.

Rosado also revealed he left an empty space on the backside of the ring for an engraved personal message from Packer.

“This was the most challenging piece of jewelry I’ve ever designed,” he explained. “I wanted to create the most gorgeous ring for my dear friend, but I also wanted to create the most stunning ring for one of the most iconic divas of our generation...For me, it was super stressful. I didn’t want to fail her.”

Carey has worn Rosado's jewelry on various occasions, including during her Hallmark Channel Christmas Special, which the jewelry designer shared on Instagram, along with a few photos with the star.

Besides Carey, fans of Rosado's jewelry include stars like Julia Roberts and Rihanna, who are often spotted wearing the designer's pieces.
