Android Smartphone 2014: OnePlus One Smartphone Is Cheap, Has Flagship-level Specs [WATCH]
Are you in the mood for an Android smartphone, but would rather not pay a ton of money for one? However you don't want to go too cheap either and risk getting stuck with a subpar phone? Then you should seriously consider looking into the OnePlus One smartphone.
This inexpensive phone packs quite a punch. Among the best features are its big and beautiful 5.5-inch Full HD display and impressive innards consisting of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor and 3GB of DDR3 RAM. The One isn't just a phone, it's a bonafide computer in your pocket.
Both One models come fully unlocked meaning that you can jump from carrier to carrier if you wish. Such a feature is helpful for people that travel a lot for business or who just hate getting tied down into a two-year contract.
So how much does this baby cost? The phone is unabashedly made in China. Yet, with all the premium features it carries, along with its impressive build quality, it's shocking that the OnePlus One starts off at $299.99. That'll get you the 16GB version.
And for just 50 bucks more, you can purchase the One with an impressive 64GB of storage. Is 300 bucks still outside your budget? Maybe you can be one of the 100 lucky fans that get selected to buy a OnePlus for $1. There is a pretty big catch though, prospective contest winners need to smash their old Android or Apple smartphone!
Unfortunately, no SD card slot is built-into the device. That means that there is no user-expandable storage, so if you're unsure of which model to get, use your best judgement before purchasing. And despite the phone being firmly entrenched in the phablet category of devices, it neglects to include a stylus unlike its (probable) main competition, the Samsung Galaxy Note III.
Now to answer the second part of that question: where can you purchase a One? Right now, the phone isn't currently for sale. Apparently, the phone is late in the development stage and the team at OnePlus is just working on ironing out some bugs. However, it will be available to order from the company's website shortly.
