'Guitar Hero Live' Debuts Def Leppard's Latest Music Video 'Dangerous'
In a rare case of promoting a new music video, popular band Def Leppard chose the video game "Guitar Hero Live" to debut their latest song titled "Dangerous." According to TechTimes, the band chose "Guitar Hero Live" as their main platform because they believe that it is the best way to reach most of their fans.
In a statement from Joe Elliot of Def Leppard, featured on the Gamasutra, he said, "There are so many interesting ways our fans experience our music, and having the video for ' Dangerous' debut in 'Guitar Hero Live' felt like such a great way to reach all of our fans."
Def Leppard's "Premium Show" under the title "Def Leppard: On Through the Ages" will contain the song Dangerous along with its music video as well as other tracks like "Let's Go" and "Rock of Ages." Def Leppard believes that their fans have evolved and adapted the different platforms where they can hear and experience their songs.
According to The Guardian, Def Leppard's use of "Guitar Hero" as their main platform to debut their song "Dangerous" made them the first artist to ever do so. Adding to the excitement of Def Leppard's presence in the game, "Guitar Hero Live" is also the latest addition after five long years of waiting for another version from the "Guitar Hero" series.
The game has also introduced some new features including GHTV, an online music video network and a controller in the form of a guitar. GHTV currently has 300 songs that players can choose from.
Def Leppard's guitarist Phil Collen said, "It seems like everything has been done, and MTV doesn't really exist anymore, so it's cool there's another medium to represent the song now. I think music videos became painful for a while, you had to do them. They cost so much money. It was very corporate. This is cool because it goes back to being artistic."
"Guitar Hero Live" will premiere Def Leppard's "Dangerous" on Wednesday. It will be joined by other titles this week including "You Only Live Once" by The Strokes and "Don't Forget Who You Are" by Miles Kane.
Gamasutra also listed the complete track available on GHTV's premium show. It includes the Indie Rock SKATERS featuring the song "Miss Teen Massachusetts." Fallout Boy's Live Performance on Christmas 2015 will also be included along with the titles "Irresistible" (Live) "Centuries" (Live) and "Uma Thurman" (Live).
