The Pokémon Company is set to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the very first Pokémon video game on Feb. 27. A Neurogadget report notes that Nintendo could release the much-anticipated "Pokémon Go" augmented-reality game on the same date.

The report mentioned several clues on why "Pokémon Go" will be released on Feb. 27, including hints that recently surfaced, indicating that the AR game will be available in early 2016. Another clue is Niantic's next "Ingress Anomaly," which will also happen on the same date.

Niantic is one of the co-developers of "Pokémon Go" and is known for the AR mobile game called "Ingress." The software development company is known to regularly hold an "Ingress Anomaly" in different cities around the world, where players participate to earn points.

The next "Ingress Anomaly" is set to happen in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where the recently released Pokémon Super Bowl commercial was filmed. The "Train On" commercial shows Pokémon trainers battling in an augmented reality-type game, hyping the company's 20th Anniversary as well as "Pokémon Go."

The AR game is rumored to be in its Beta testing phase, but the company has been very silent about the details. Few information fans know about "Pokémon Go" include the small device called a "Pokémon GO Plus." It is a watch-like gadget that connects to a smartphone via Bluetooth and alerts the player of a Pokémon appearance or Pokémon trainer near his area, per the Pokémon website.

Nintendo is also set to commemorate its 20th Anniversary by releasing its four original versions of the game to the 3DS console. Pokémon Red, Blue, and Yellow will be available for purchase worldwide via the 3DS eShop while the Green version is exclusive only for Japan.

Siliconera translated the game's official manual and noted that all four versions of the game will not feature a Restore Point, where players can create a save point and be able to resume play at any point in the game. Players also won't get to the 3DS Home Menu, while the game is paused and can only be accessed if the game is closed.

The Pokémon Company will also release special limited-edition 2DS handheld consoles of the four original versions the same day as the 3DS versions, per the Pokémon.com. The 2DS handhelds will be available in Red, Blue, Green and Yellow colors same as the original games.
