‘Final Fantasy 15’ Unveils New Character, Release Date to Be Confirmed in March Event
"Final Fantasy" is finally coming, and this time it's for real. The developer Square Enix has not only unveiled a brand new character, but also confirmed that the release date for the hotly-anticipated game will be announced during a live event in March.
According to a report from Ubergizmo, the live event is entitled "Uncovered: Final Fantasy 15" and is slated to be at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles on Mar. 30. Hosted by Greg Miller from Kinda Funny, the event is set to be the biggest happening this year in the "Final Fantasy" community. The event is open to the public and will broadcast online.
Aside from the confirmation of the release date soon, the team also introduced a new character: Aranea Highwind, according to a report from IGN. The character was announced during the Active Time Report by director Hajime Tabata and marketing manager Akio Ofuji, who revealed that Highwind is the commander of Niflheim's Third Army Corps 87th Airborne Division as well as a "skilled aerial combatant known as 'Dragoon' within the Imperial military."
Footage was also shown of Aranea in the game. In the video, players will also be able to see combat with magic being used.
Earlier this month, the Square Enix team has engaged with the fans by answering a few questions about the upcoming "Final Fantasy 15" in the official forums of the game. One of the questions was about the difficulty modes of the game when it comes to enemy stats, damage and other factors. Lead game designer Takizawa Masashi explained that the different players if the game can find the difficulty levels that suit them with the setting the team has placed in the "Final Fantasy 15".
"The equivalent to difficulty level settings in FFXV is a system where you can switch between different battle modes," Masashi explained. "By having this ability to switch modes, we want to make it so that both players who like action oriented, technical gameplay and also those who want to fight at a slower, more relaxed pace can all enjoy the combat in their own style. This switching system is a key part of the gameplay that we decided to introduce based on the feedback we received from the Episode Duscae demo."
He assured, "We will go into more detail about the system closer to the game's launch so stay tuned for more information."
