"Frozen" actress and Broadway star Idina Menzel was honored this week as part of Variety's "Power of Women: New York" issue that recognizes and honors women in the industry who make a difference with their charities.

In addition to Menzel, Sarah Jessica Parker, Susan Sarandon, and A&E President and CEO Nancy Dubac, were also honored for their charitable work. The female honorees attended Variety's luncheon at Cipriani in Manhattan. The luncheon was hosted by designer Zac Posen and featured Katie Couric, Gayle King, Josh Groban, and others paying tribute.

Menzel was honored for her own foundation, A BroaderWay, which assists underprivileged young girls from urban communities.

Variety explains that the organization takes a small group of girls from urban communities out to the Berkshires and gives them a place to express themselves, and learn self-confidence through performance. Menzel and other stage veterans are also there with the girls during the camp's 10-day program, working on songs, poems, writing and stagecraft.

As she went up on stage to receive her award, Menzel relished in the fact that unlike John Travolta, who butchered Menzel's name at this year's Oscar ceremony, singer Josh Groban actually remembered her name.

"He got my name right!" she quipped.

During her feature on Variety's website, Menzel explains that "There's a beautiful intimacy about the camp [BroaderWay]. The counselors perform that first night, to show the girls they can make themselves vulnerable."

"It's about using the arts to help girls find their own voice," Menzel continued. "There's a lot of young women who don't know how to use their voice literally and figuratively. These girls get to be the authors of their own life."

So what's next for the 42-year-old performer?

Menzel will be appearing alongside theatre legend Julie Andrews on Thursday's "Watch What Happens Live" episode with Andy Cohen.

Will the two powerhouses break into song on the show? Well we'll just have to wait and see. Be sure to watch to the May 1 episode at 11/10c on Bravo.
