Super Bowl 50 is fast approaching and two figures that will be under the radar are the quarterbacks from both teams. All eyes will be on Cam Newton of the Carolina Panthers and Peyton Manning of the Denver Broncos, the top two favorites to end up as this year’s Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, per Sports Illustrated.

But for Manning, he believes that Newton is the choice to be the MVP. In fact, he believes that the Panthers star quarterback will win the award.

“No doubt in my mind he’ll be the MVP,” said Manning as quoted by the publication.

Manning, who could be retiring after this season, was also asked regarding Newton’s celebratory antics each time he scores. Rather than criticize it, the 39-year-old believes that it is a sign of enthusiasm.

“If I rush for a touchdown on Sunday, believe me, I’ll be celebrating,” Manning said via Twitter.

Newton has had a stellar year and is undoubtedly the favorite. Betting windows in Las Vegas even have him as the odds-on favorite to win the plum.

Newton is listed at odds of 5-7 (-140) at William Hill, where 48 percent of the money in the Super Bowl MVP pool was on Newton Monday via ESPN. Manning, on the other hand, was second at 7-2, followed by Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly (15-1) and Broncos defensive end Von Miller (20-1).

With the MVP award being won by quarterbacks in 27 Super Bowls, it is not surprising to find Newton and Manning leading the pack.

As far as the game itself, the odds-on favorite are the Panthers. They have been doing splendidly all season, per ESPN, with the difference lying on Newton.

The Panthers are seen to have an advantage on offense but some believe that whatever shortcoming the Broncos have, there will be made up on the defensive side through Newton.

But that doesn’t mean the Broncos won’t be able to pull off a surprise. This is where Manning comes in. While the season may not have been impressive for the veteran, he did show brilliance against the New England Patriots.

With Manning likely to play his last game, it could be for all the marbles for the five-time league MVP as he tries to give it one last push which could be the last of his career.

He may have conceded the MVP to Newton but nothing comes sweeter than possibly ending your career with one final Super Bowl win.
