The Cleveland Cavaliers are currently on top of the Eastern Conference standings, but the LeBron James-led squad is not contented with their current crop of talents, as reports revealed they are looking to trade before the deadline.

According to Brian Windhorst of ESPN Cleveland, the Cavaliers are interested in acquiring Washington Wizards forward Jared Dudley before the NBA trade deadline on Feb. 18.

Windhorst said on Friday that the Cavaliers have been chasing Dudley since the offseason, even when the veteran forward was still with the Milwaukee Bucks. The eight-year veteran played 72 regular-season games in Milwaukee last season before he was dealt to the Wizards for a future second-round pick.

The Cavaliers, who currently hold a 35-14 record and are 1.5 games ahead of the Toronto Raptors in the Eastern Conference standings, are intrigued of Dudley's three-point shooting, as he is hitting 46.3 percent of his shots from the distance this season. Windhorst added that Dudley will also be an additional presence in the locker room.

While the Cavaliers are very interested in acquiring Dudley, it remains to be seen whether or not the Wizards are going to part ways with the 30-year-old veteran. The Wizards will reportedly consider trading Dudley if they continue to struggle this season, but Windhorst said Washington could still make a big run in the second half of the season.

The Wizards are currently in 10th place in the Eastern Conference with their 22-26 record. They are three games behind the eight-placed Indiana Pacers and a game behind the ninth-placed Charlotte Hornets.

"The problem is, the Wizards have the easiest schedule in the league after the All-Star break," Windhorst said. "So even though they've been a disappointment to this point, the difficulty is they still feel like they can make a run because of what their schedule is and they're going to be healthy."

A trade for Dudley could also be a costly move for the Cavaliers, who could package Mo Williams, Timofey Mozgov and Anderson Varejao along with draft picks and trade exception, Cleveland.com reported.

Dudley, who averaged 8.9 points on 48.5 shooting from the field in his first 47 games this season, is playing in the final year of his five-year contract worth $21.25 million, which he signed with the Phoenix Suns before the 2011-12 NBA season.
