2014 NBA Playoff Picture, Bracket, Schedule, & Recap: Wizards Eliminate Bulls, Grizzlies Eke Out Victory Over Thunder; Will Nets Take Series Lead vs Raptors?
Every game 5 on Tuesday night gave fans a great story line or a dramatic finish.
The Washington Wizards and Chicago Bulls series hasn't exactly been equally as entertaining as the others series, however, after five games of play, the Wizards eliminated the Bulls 4-1. The Bulls' lone victory came in game 3 on the road in Washington, 100-97. After that, John Wall and the Wizards disposed of the Bulls and that anemic offense by a score of 75-69. The Bulls will face the winner of the Indiana Pacers and Atlanta Hawks next round.
After that, the best series in NBA continued. The Oklahoma City Thunder looked to break a 2-2 series tie with the Memphis Grizzlies at Chesapeake arena. But the Grizzlies had other plans. The Grizzlies defeated the Thunder by a score of 100-99 in overtime. This game 5 marked the fourth consecutive overtime game, the first time in NBA history this has occurred. Grizzlies improved to 2-1 in the series at Oklahoma, and now have a chance to close out the series in six games at home in Memphis. This has a chance to be one of the best series in NBA history if it continues the way it has.
The late game took place on the West Coast with emotions running high. The Los Angeles Clippers hosted the Golden State Warriors and took a 3-2 series lead. DeAndre Jordan led the Clippers with 25 points, and made more than half his free throws. The No. 3 seed Clippers have the chance to be the highest seed in the West, if the Thunder and Spurs both get eliminated.
Wednesday, April 30
Dallas Mavericks at San Antonio Spurs
With the series tied 2-2, the Spurs will look to continue their momentum heading into Wednesday after the team's game 4 victory. The Spurs will be playing at home and they need this win badly, as they are the No. 1 seed in the West and have the best record in the league. The Spurs can't keep wasting time in the first round with the Mavericks. They need to rest up and prepare for their next opponent. The game will be broadcast at 7:00 EDT on TNT.
Brooklyn Nets at Toronto Raptors
Raptors are the No. 3 seed, however, many fans believe the Nets are the better team. The Nets were 4-0 against the Miami Heat this season, and fans want to see how they will do against them in the playoffs. Jason Kidd has turned around this Nets team to a possible championship contender. The Raptors will be playing at home with a chance to take a 3-2 series lead, but with a lack playoff experience, this series could easily go either way.
Portland Trail Blazers at Houston Rockets
What a disappointment the Rockets have been so far. Most Rockets fans expected Houston to be tied or leading in this series. James Harden isn't the closer he was in the regular season. Coach Kevin McHale continues to run this offense in the most confusing way possible. And the Trail Blazers have a huge 3-1 series advantage. Game 5 is Wednesday night on TNT at 9:30 EDT.
