Colombian star Maluma is celebrating his social media popularity after becoming the most followed Latin male artist on Instagram.

On Feb. 9, a press release by Paola España Press & Entertainment announced the release of the singer's new song "El Perderor."

The song was released in honor of Maluma becoming the most followed Latin male singer on Instagram with a total of 9.2 million followers and was chosen as his new single by his fans. The reggaeton star had fans vote for their favorite song off of his latest album, "Pretty Boy, Dirty Boy," on social media and promised that the winner would be released as a single.

Maluma thanked his fans for the support with a message in the caption of a photo commemorating his social media milestone on Instagram.

"This is my army of warriors...9 million who go out on the streets everyday to look for opportunities and share one heart. I love you and let the PRETTY BOY DIRTYBOY movement keep going, it is the start!! #9millionparceros," he wrote.
