Microsoft announced on Tuesday that it has now added an essential feature to Office which the otherwise highly-regarded applications have lacked since their launch earlier last month. Among the millions of downloads that took place, it seems that thousands of users' feedback came with additional feature requests.

Developers have finally answered several major complaints of mobile device users on the iPad Microsoft Office apps including Word, PowerPoint and Excel as they release the first major update on the apps today. Ever since the apps were first launched back in March, they notably lacked printing capabilities directly from the mobile device. According to the official post on the Office blog, all three apps will now be capable of directly printing over-the-air to a printer with AirPrint compatibility. This feature has been available with other apps since iOS 7's AirDrop capability.

In addition to over the air printing, other improvements are also included with the major update.

PowerPoint's SmartGuides will assist the user in aligning textboxes, pictures, and shapes as they are moved around the slide. With little effort, presentations made on a mobile device can now be more beautifully and professionally designed.

Excel's AutoFit, on the other hand, allows the adjustment to width and height of multiple rows and columns at the same time. Actions on the tablet have become more intuitive as well, much like the features on their laptop or desktop counterparts.

Obviously, the update also fixes minor bugs and improvements were made to the overall stability and reliability of the apps, leading to less crashing and smoother usage.

This update only shows that Microsoft is committed to keep improving their apps for their consumers and that feedback and requests are highly appreciated.

The updated Word, Excel and PowerPoint for iPad can be downloaded in the App Store for free with available in-app purchases. However, editing and creating documents require the Office 365 Subscription found online.
