'Call of Duty' 2016 in the Works, Confirms Infinity Ward
Game developer Infinity Ward has confirmed that "Call of Duty" 2016 is in the works. According to Attack of the Fan Boy, Infinity Ward took to Twitter the announcement saying, "COD 2016. Now it's official. Can't wait to show you what we've been developing! #CallofDuty."
Activision's dedication on the "Call of Duty" series is so high that they are venturing on a yearly release of the sade game beginning with "Call of Duty" 2016. Infinity Inward has not disclosed the title of the upcoming series, but it will surely be revealed as the year progresses.
Currently, Activision is enjoying the success of "Call of Duty: Black Ops III." The company said that they will be working on more series until the hype dies down. Attack of the Fan Boy can't help but compare Activision's current stand on "Call of Duty" to that of Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed," where the latter has temporarily ceased on creating a follow-up game this year.
Infinity Ward's second shot on the "Call of Duty" project and its plans to make it more interesting remains to be seen.
According to Game Spot, Activision believes that the work of Infinity Ward on the new "Call of Duty" is innovative despite the subtle flop of its "Call of Duty: Ghosts" project. Activision has been with different developers for their "Call of Duty" series with Sledgehammer Games working on "Advanced Warfares" and Treyarch on "Black Ops III."
Although Activision has put their trust on Infinity Ward in developing the latest "Call of Duty" game, they are not expecting a massive hit like what "Black Ops III" recently achieved. The publication reported that Activision Blizzard's recent quarterly revenue was down to $2.12 billion compared to last year's $2.21 total revenue.
The $780 million revenue of Activision Blizzard came from their digital content and record-breaking digital sales. Activision has been successful in terms of their revenue, but recently admitted that sales of "Guitar Hero Live" and "Skylanders SuperChargers" have dwindled down, which according to the company is due to the popularity of mobile games.
As for the latest on the "Call of Duty" series, Activision has not released any official statement that will detail on what to expect of the game and its release date.
Are you excited on the outcome of the latest "Call of Duty" game? What are your thoughts on Infinity Ward taking on the project?
