Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston had one heck of a season. He won the Heisman Trophy, which is rewarded to the best player in all of college football and led the Seminoles to an undefeated record of 14-0. Winston and the Seminoles capped off their amazing year by defeating the Auburn Tigers in the National Championship game.

But Winston is in the news lately for a different reason. According to mulitple reports, Winston was issued a citation for shoplifting crab legs from Publix.

Unfortunately for the 20 year old quarterback, this is not the first time Winston has made the news for the wrong reasons.

His most notable controversy involves an alleged rape case, however the state attorney decided not to proceed forward. It's still unknown what exactly happened and later it would be revealed that the Tallahassee Police never even took a DNA sample from Winston, nor did the interview him for questioning. It was later revealed that Winston's DNA was present in the underwear of accuser. A lot of unanswered questions for sure.

Winston would also have a run in with the law in November 2012, again in Tallahassee. He was questioned about a BB gun battle that left 13 apartment windows broken. In another incident, Winston was accused of stealing soda by a Burger King employee, who called the police. Winston has not been arrested for any of these incidents.

This recent citation comes at some confusion because Division 1 athletes are given unlimited free meals for "student athletes." It looks as if crab legs weren't on the menu at Florida State University.

Unfortunately, Winston's off field distractions are overshadowing his on field performance. Scouts and general managers are forgetting that he had 40 touchdowns to just 10 interceptions last season. People are focusing on this instead of his championship drive against Auburn. Winston is hurting his draft stock and losing money in next year's draft.
