The battle for humanity is raging in "The Divergent Series: Allegiant." Lionsgate unveiled a new trailer of the upcoming installment of the beloved franchise, a one-minute video that showed all that was at stake in the impending war outside of the Chicago walls.

"Everybody's worth saving," Tris (Shailene Woodley) implored at the start of the video.

It's soon apparent that not everyone shares the same sentiment as Jeff Daniels' character David told her, "You are a miracle. You're genetically pure. The rest are damaged. You are the only one worth saving."

According to a report from Indie Wire, the official synopsis revealed that Tris, Four (Theo James) and the rest of the team will venture outside of Chicago to be part of an ongoing battle that threatens the existence of most of humanity. New revelations make it difficult to determine who to trust and the heroine will be faced with "impossible choices" in the wake of the war.

"In order to survive, Tris will be forced to make impossible choices about courage, allegiance, sacrifice and love," the synopsis concluded.

A new poster for "Allegiant" also debuted recently on Just Jared. It showcases two versions of Tris that foreshadows her struggle in the coming third installment of "The Divergent Series."

The cast of the hotly-anticipated sequel will include Shailene Woodley, Theo James, Naomi Watts, Octavia Spencer, Ray Stevenson, Zoe Kravitz, Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Maggie Q, Jeff Daniels and Kate Winslet.

"The Divergent Series: Allegiant" is slated to hit theaters on March 18.

Meanwhile, the final movie in the franchise gets a blow as it was recently announced that director Robert Schwentke dropped out of the project, according to a report from The Hollywood Reporter. Reports reveal that the director wanted a break after filming the last two installments back to back.

The final film, "The Divergent Series: Ascendant," was originally planned to be released on June 9, 2017, but with this delay it is currently unknown if the premiere date can push through.

"The Divergent Series" is based on the trilogy created by author Veronica Roth. Like other book-to-film adaptations such as "Harry Potter" and "Hunger Games," the series will split the final novel into two separate movies.

Roth addressed this move on her Tumblr account saying, "I know changes always make fans of the books -- and the author! -- nervous, but hopefully the characters we know (and love. Or sometimes love to hate?) will still be intact, which is really the important thing. I am eager to see how these movies turn out, along with you guys."
