'Magearna' Officially Announced as Newest Mythical Pokémon Debuting in Next Movie
The Pokémon Company officially announced Magearna as the newest Mythical Pokémon. Magearna will be making its debut in the 19th Pokémon movie, titled "Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna," sometime in 2016.
Magearna the Artificial Pokémon
Magearna is categorized as an Artificial Pokémon created by humans 500 years ago, and it is the latest Mythical Pokémon to be unveiled. It has a metallic body that's three feet and three inches tall and weighs 177.5 pounds.

Based on its appearance, Magearna's head has seven gear teeth framing with two large rabbit-like ears. Its upper body kind of looks like a Poké Ball, while its hands are pointed and forearms are claw-shaped. As for its lower body, it is shaped like a ball gown that also resembles a Poké Ball.
"Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna"
The plot for the 19th Pokémon movie was also revealed during the announcement of Magearna's appearance and other details.
"Ash meets the Mythical Pokémon Volcanion when it crashes down from the sky, creating a cloud of dust and a mysterious force binds the two of them together! Volcanion despises humans and tries to get away, but it's forced to drag Ash along as it continues its rescue mission," the plot reads.
"They arrive in a city of cogs and gears, where a corrupt minister has stolen the ultimate invention: the Artificial Pokémon Magearna, created 500 years ago. He plans to use its mysterious power to take control of this mechanical kingdom! Can Ash and Volcanion work together to rescue Magearna? One of the greatest battles in Pokémon history is about to unfold!"
"Volcanion and the Ingenious Magearna" will be released in Japan on July 16, 2016. It is directed by Kunihiko Yuyama, who has been a part of all the previous 18 Pokémon films. The script was written by Atsuhiro Tomioka.
The first trailer for the movie was released last Dec. 21, 2015, and it featured Volcanion. It is a legendary Pokémon and the first-ever water- and fire-type Pokémon. Both Volcanion and Magearna are not part of any Pokémon game. You can view the trailer in the video below.
