How to Deal with Your Latina Curls [Tips & Tricks]
Curly locks are a symbol of true Latina beauty but it takes more than combing to maintain their natural style.
In fact, those with Latina curls can rarely wash-and-go, particularly if the hair is long enough to get tangled.
According to a post from Daily Curlz, long curly hair requires more time to prep, from washing and conditioning to drying and styling.
Having long curly hair requires detangling prior to a 30-minute deep conditioning session, followed by rinsing, styling and drying which can take 20 minutes longer to accomplish if it is cold outside.
But fear not, for it is no longer impossible to maintain beautiful, natural-looking curly hair. These styling tips involve minimal fuss, thanks to Latina Magazine.
To achieve fluffy wash-and-go curly locks, Latina advises women to use leave-in conditioners after washing their hair with regular shampoo and conditioner.
The application should be from roots to the tips. Dividing the hair into subsections before using the leave-in conditioner might help even out the application.
After that, allow the hair to dry naturally if you have plenty of time. If not, you should consider using a blow dryer with a diffuser.
Once the hair is either damp or pretty dry, you can go ahead and fluff and separate your hair.
To prevent your hair from getting frizzy, use a satin pillowcase when sleeping.
Also, in order to maintain well-moisturized curly locks, doing a five-day routine should do the trick. Just follow these steps.
For day 1, wash your locks with a mild shampoo and proceed with deep conditioning. After leaving the conditioner on for about 30 minutes or for an ample amount of time, rinse your hair and apply your styling products.
On the second day, simply shake off the remaining hair products in your locks, but do not wash.
For day 3, spray water mist on your hair to "reactivate" the products you used on the first day.
On the fourth day, add more of the same styling products you used after spraying water mist onto your hair.
The fifth day is usually the day the effects of the styling products wear off and should be the right time to clean your hair by washing it with warm water and a light shampoo. This is where the cycle begins again.
You can try some natural Latina hair styles like the sleek bun, tousled curls, twisted bun or a loose side braid to keep your curls looking neat and beautiful without too much effort.
