As you avid "Dancing with the Stars" fans may already know, contestant Amy Purdy is injured, but how seriously is the paralympian hurt?

The 2014 snowboard cross bronze medal Paralympics winner was injured during Monday's Latin Night. Apparently, the sultry moves of the culture were too much for the star's shoulder and rib.

"Well, the rumba, like all of these dances, has its own subtleties and technical nuances that you have to do in order to do the dance well," she explained in her LA Times blog. "In this dance there's a lot of holding your back upright, in a graceful position, while keeping your shoulders down ... And imagine holding this position three to five hours a day for a week."

The contestant knew something wrong when she was getting judged with partner Derek Hough.

"... as we were wrapping up our chit-chat with the judges I turned my head and felt a distinct pop in my back," Purdy explained. "Instantly I was in pain. I managed to get up the stairs to do the quick interview with Erin [Andrews] and get our scores, but if you look real close at the video you can see me turning to Derek to tell him something was really, really wrong. I did the best I could to smile through it."

Pury learned that her injury was muscular "severe back spasms likely brought on by overworking my shoulders." A chiropractor told her that one of her ribs moved a little, and he put it back in place twice.

According to an E! News source, "Dancing with the Stars" producers will "know more later this week" about whether or not Purdy can continue to dance. Yesterday, she told People that she is "being very proactive, icing all day ... and working with a sports doctor to try to heal quickly so I can learn this week's dances."

Purdy wasn't the only one who felt the pressure from Latin Night.

"... the challenge was keeping my posture up while everything was a toe lead and pushing forward," James Maslow, who partners with Peta Murgatroyd said via Parade. "You're really bent in your leg for most of these movements and I naturally want to bend over. It's like when you're playing sports -- when you sprint, you're low to the ground, but this is different and you have to stay completely upright."

Hopefully, our favorite stars will be able to make it through the last few weeks of the show.

"There's only three weeks left, so now it's getting really competitive," Maslow continued. "I hope everyone stays positive."
