The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to rebuild its roster in the offseason in a pretty big way.

With Kobe Bryant retiring, the Lakers have to look for a new franchise player to lead the young wards of head coach Byron Scott. But the question now is who.

An easy answer to that would have been Kevin Durant, who is perhaps the top player and biggest fish most teams will be trying to net. However, the reality is that the Lakers are not at the top of Durant’s list.

With their chances on Durant not looking so good, the Lakers will have to look at other top free agents that will be available in the summer.

From the list of NBA free agents available, there are some good names that could end up wearing purple and gold. However, before jumping to anything, the Lakers have to identify players that they really need.

At the moment, the Lakers still have sophomores Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle as well as rookies D’Angelo Russell and Larry Nance Jr. In this batch, the Lakers have a couple of future guards and forwards unless general manager Mitch Kupchak trades them along the way.

The other players on the team right now could be good as gone. Roy Hibbert, Lou Williams, Nick Young and Brandon Bass could be let go after the season ends.
