This week, the Obama administration took big strides in its effort to combat the sexual assault epidemic that is plaguing college campuses across the country.

The administration released a 20-page report to help stop campus rape and made the announcement that 55 colleges and universities are under federal investigation for the alleged mishandling of sexual assault cases, Ms. Magazine reported. In addition, the administration released a star-studded public service announcement that features men speaking out against sexual violence.

The White House report issued by the White House Task Force to Protect Students From Sexual Assault, titled "Not Alone," details steps that colleges can take to prevent assault and support survivors of sexual assault on college campuses. The task force will also evaluate sexual assault prevention strategies on campuses and provide training for school officials. Additionally, the task force will help make federal enforcement more transparent.

The task force also created a website outlining such efforts: NotAlone.gov

The 55 schools that are being investigated include Harvard, Princeton, the University of Southern California, UC Berkley and the University of Chicago.

Officials will determine whether the list of schools violated Title IX, a federal law that precludes gender discrimination in education programs that receive federal appropriations. Title IX also requires colleges to address sexual violence allegations through investigations and to advise students on how to file sexual assault complaints. The law also prohibits sexual assault and harassment of any kind.

The full list of schools under investigation can be seen here.

Catherine E. Lhamon, the assistant secretary for civil rights at the Department of Education, said, "We are making this list available in an effort to bring more transparency to our enforcement work and to foster better public awareness of civil rights."

Additionally, a new PSA released by the White House shows male celebrities, along with Vice President Joe Biden, speaking out against sexual violence and urging men to put a stop to it.

The one-minute video includes appearances by Daniel Craig, Benicio del Toro and Steve Carell.
