LAX Flights Delayed Due to Low Visibility: Flights Holding Ground at Origin Until Fog Conditions Improve - Feb 27, 2016 (Updates)
All airplanes landings have been delayed at LAX Airport amid concerns over low and heavy fog clouds that have engulfed the airport and its vicinities, Latin Post has learned and confirmed.
Planes scheduled to land at the airport were still cruising around the terminals as of 7:53 A.M. (PST) as the heavy fog was affecting pilots' ability to land their planes. All inbound planes have been circling around the airport for about an hour.
As of now, tens of dozens of planes ranging from American Airlines to Delta, United Airlines Jet Blue, Spirit and more have been affected by the conditions. All outgoing flights have also been delayed.
An American pilot indicated that at one point visibility was down to around 700 feet, though it had since improved to roughly 1,000 as conditions have slowly improved.
At last reports, delayed flights from other cities were being told to hold ground for at least one more hour or around 9 A.M. PST
As of 1045 A.M. PST, Latin Post can confirm the ground hold has been lifted and planes are now free to come and go at the terminal.
