Ben Affleck Under Investigation for Counting Cards at Las Vegas Casino: 'Batman vs. Superman' Actor on Vacation With Jennifer Garner
Ben Affleck gets banned for life from playing blackjack at a Las Vegas casino after being caught for allegedly counting cards.
The 41-year-old actor was in Sin City on vacation with his wife Jennifer Garner, although it is unknown whether she was accompanying him at the time of gambling. Affleck was playing blackjack at a high rollers table of the Hard Rock Casino when he was reportedly confronted for being "too good" on Tuesday night (April 29). Also, he was actually warned last week after he was suspected of using a similar gambling strategy.
"Security said, 'you are too good at the game,'" a source said. "The hotel was really nice about it and told him he could play other games. They ended up getting him and Jennifer a car back to their hotel too."
According to an alert from a local security firm, the "Batman vs. Superman" actor was banned from play shortly after 10 p.m. "due to moving his money with the count" -- which is not illegal but is a ground for being banned. It stated that Affleck "uses perfect basic," which is an industry term for card counting, "but also takes insurance according to the count." It added that he "uses black $100 cheques to keep track of the count while playing." The alert was sent to surrounding casinos in the Nevada city the next day, claiming that Affleck was "currently suspected of advantage play."
"Ben Affleck (the actor) was informed that he was being way too obvious moving his money with the count," said Rob Olivetti, the Games Protection Manager at the Wynn and Encore casinos. "He was spreading $100-10K on the double decks and $0-20K (2@10K) on the show games. As of now, he is still being allowed to play per casino management."
Although Ben Affleck is banned from playing blackjack, he is still welcome at the hotel. "Mr. Affleck, a valued guest of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, is not banned from our property and is welcome back any time," said a representative for the hotel.
