WWE Raw Spoilers, Preview for March 7, 2016: AJ Styles, Chris Jericho vs. New Day for Tag Team Titles
"WWE Monday Night Raw" is in Chicago tonight, where WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day will defend their championship live.
It's a New Day for "Y2AJ"
The New Day have no clear competition at "WrestleMania," but tonight's championship match against AJ Styles and Chris Jericho may help decide the direction of the tag-team scene. While the WWE has recently pushed the concept of "Y2AJ," even releasing a new shirt with the name, a win for the duo is unlikely due to Xavier Woods' ringside antics. If history repeats itself, Y2AJ could win if Woods participates in the match in exchange for either Big E or Kofi Kingston.
New Main Event: Ambrose vs. Triple H
In the WWE World Heavyweight Championship scene, Roman Reigns has not been promoted to appear in Chicago, which may be a wise choice given the city's "smart" crowd. Triple H will appear since he has a title match this Saturday against Dean Ambrose at "WWE Roadblock," airing exclusively on the WWE Network.
Ambrose's "WrestleMania" opponent, Brock Lesnar, could appear given Chicago is a major city. Lesnar's appearance could also further promote his "Roadblock" match against Bray Wyatt. The Wyatt Family will definitely deliver a promo to look strong ahead of Saturday's show, especially if Lesnar does not appear.
Divas Triple Threat
The Divas Championship match at "WrestleMania" has been confirmed: WWE Divas Champion Charlotte will be in a triple-threat match against Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks. The match was expected to be confirmed for several weeks but was only finally set in stone during the last "SmackDown," when Charlotte interfered in Banks vs. Lynch. The "WrestleMania" triple-threat match will be the second time the Divas Championship has been put on the line since the title's creation in 2008.
Kevin Owens' Latest Battle?
Meanwhile, Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens, like The New Day, has no clear "WrestleMania" opponent. Tonight's "Raw" will further clarify the future, both for Owens and the championship. The WWE has hinted at a range of potential opponents, including Dolph Ziggler, The Miz, Big Show and even Stardust.
An opponent might not be confirmed tonight, leaving "Roadblock" as the place for the big reveal. Reports have also indicated Sami Zayn will make his main roster return at "Roadblock" to resume his NXT feud against Owens. Plus, the WWE Network special will take place in Owens and Zayn's hometown of Montreal, Canada.
Shane McMahon is also scheduled for tonight's show.
"WWE Monday Night Raw" airs weekly on the USA Network at 8 p.m. ET.
