The WWE tried to make it look like Chris Jericho and AJ Styles could co-exist, but folks who have followed the show for years now expected a heel-turn at some point. That finally happened at the WWE Raw episode on March 7.

Y2AJ were scheduled to face the WWE tag team champions New Day. The champs retained the titles when Big E was able to pin Jericho.

Some Good Things Never Last

During that match, Jericho did most of the damage until his momentum was stopped following Big E’s reversal of the “Codebreaker”.

Despite his valiant effort, the WWE still cheered for Styles, which seems to have been irking Jericho for quite some time now. On that fateful night, Jericho had enough and went ballistic on Styles. It ended with Jericho shoving the Y2AJ shirt merchandise to the mouth of Styles.

Familiar Turn of Events

The heel-turn is nothing new for someone like Jericho. He has done it before on other wrestling superstars, so it was hardly a shocker. Remember this issue he had with Shawn Michaels back in 2011?

But the more interesting part here is why it happened. While the two have shown respect to one another, storylines call for Jericho to carry a bit of jealousy against Styles. A lot of this goes back to the “Phenomenal One’s” debut, where he snuck one under Jericho.

Jericho managed to even the score, but Styles gained the upper hand when he won at WWE Fastlane. Since then, it seemed that the two, who tried to work as a unit, had to come to an end at some point.

With the sudden turn of events, a fourth showdown between the two high-class performers loom. It will likely be made into another WrestleMania 32 card soon though more twists are expected in the coming shows.

Will Fans Want a Jericho vs. Styles IV?

A fourth meeting between the two stars does carry a lot of questions. That includes whether fans are interested in seeing them square off for the fourth time.

The match could be appealing if the WWE adds a bit of color to it, something expected to happen starting at WWE Smackdown. Jericho is likely to explain and build on his actions while Styles is bound to respond to it all.

It will not be surprising to see Styles challenging Jericho once again as payback, but somehow, you can just feel that Y2AJ will play the mind and waiting game once more. He will likely use the same phrase “I’ll think about it or I’ll consider it,” catchphrase as he did before the two clashed at Fastlane.
