One Direction is reportedly considering taking legal action against an American condom brand for ripping off their band name.

The safe sex aid company has hilariously referenced the title of the British boyband's successful debut album for its unofficial merchandise line of "One Erection - Up All Night" condoms, which are currently available for purchase online at the Ripnroll.com website -- with individual prophylactics being sold for $2.95 and packs of 1,000 for $300.

Also, the packaging of the controversial 1D rubbers clearly bears resemblance to the cover art of the group's album "Up All Night," featuring five condoms on the front to represent all the five members: Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

A short promotional description of the product reads: "Stay 'UP ALL NIGHT' with these FDA approved ONE ERECTION condoms. There is only one direction to go with these babies and that is UP! Great ice breaker at parties and bars."

So how do the "Midnight Memories" hitmakers think about the "One Erection" condoms? "The boys heard about the condoms and found them hilarious," a source revealed. "They even joked about buying a few packets for a laugh."

However, One Direction's management team is apparently not so happy about the products, since they believe that the band's image can be negatively affected. "Their management team aren't seeing the funny side. They are considering bringing in lawyers to stop them shamefully exploiting the band to sell condoms," the source continued. "It's only a small U.S. online firm so management weren't too concerned at first but they are still worried the range damages the group's image."

"What makes it worse is 1D have turned down various big-bucks offers to bring out their own official range," the source added. "So they aren't happy someone else is cashing in on their sex-symbol status."
