Premios TVyNovela 2016 Nominations Announced, 'Antes Muerta Que Lichita' Dominates
The nominees have been announced for Premios TVyNovelas 2016, which celebrates the best in Mexican television and telenovelas. Judging from the nominations, huge wins could be on the way for Canal de las Estrella's "Antes Muerta Que Lichita."
Premios TVyNovelas released the list of nominees on March 9 and revealed great news for "Antes Muerta Que Lichita." Despite the telenovela's cancellation, the cast and production team have much to celebrate since they lead with 19 nominations.
"Antes Muerta Que Lichita" is up for categories such as Best Telenovela, Best Lead Actress for Maite Perroni, Best Lead actor for Arath de la Torre, Best Male and Female Villains for Eduardo Santamarina and Ingrid Martz, as well as Best Supporting nominations, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Telenovela Cast.
The telenovelas that are up for the biggest award of the night, Best Telenovela, also dominate most of this year's other nominations. "Antes Muerta Que Lichita," "A Que No Me Dejas," "La Vecina," "La Sombra Del Pasado," "Muchacha Italiana Viene A Casarse" and "Pasión y Poder" were all well represented in the nominations.
"La Sombra del Pasado" has 17 nominations, "La Vecinca" has 14, "A Que No Me Dejas" is up for 11," "Pasión y Poder" has 9 and "Muchacha Italiana Viene A Casarse" is up for 8.
Musical artists nominated for Best Theme Song include Alejandro Sanz ("A Que No Me Dejas"), Thalia ("Antes Muerta Que Lichita"), Joan Sebastian ("Amores Con Trampa"), Mijares ("La Sombra Del Pasado") and Angeles Azules ("La Vecina").
Other categories are Best Cable Show, Best Standalone Show, Best Entertainment Show -- which pits "Sabadazo," "Estrella2," "Adal, El Show" and "Hoy" against one another -- and Best Game Show -- which includes "Recuerda y Gana," "Me Pongo De Pie" and "Parodiando" as nominees.
"Lo Imperdonable" and "Hasta El Fin Del Mundo," both huge hits, were snubbed for nominations. The stars of these successful dramas, Ana Brenda Contreras, Iván Sánchez, Marjorie De Sousa, David Zepeda and Pedro Fernández, were left out of the main acting categories as well.
This year the winners will be chosen differently than in years past. Fans will be able to vote for their favorites in each category on the Premios TVyNovela website. The results will be revealed live on April 17.
