NBA Roundup: Chalmers, Mayo Out for the Season, Bosh's Return Possible
Mario Chalmers and OJ Mayo saw their season end abruptly after suffering respective injuries but the good news is that Chris Bosh could be cleared for a possible return.
Bosh is someone who had an unclear future after being beset by blood clot issues once again.
His latest tweet reveals that the All-Star forward does not have any active blood clots right now. However, a return depends on how he and doctors would come up with the best precautionary steps to ensure his health.

Heat Will Not Take the Risk
The latest word on Bosh is good news for Miami Heat fans, but the ballclub is not about to take any chances. The slightest risk to Bosh’s health will not be gambled on by the Heat, which means that unless he can prove that he is truly fit, it is unlikely that he will be returning to the hardwood anytime soon.
It has been stated to me over & over, however, that the team will not clear Bosh to return if there is even the slightest risk to his health — Ethan J. Skolnick (@EthanJSkolnick) March 10, 2016
The Heat are currently sitting at the fourth spot even without Bosh though his return could be a big boost for the playoff aspirations of coach Erik Spoelstra’s charges. Bosh has been out since Feb. 9 and was ruled out from participating in the annual NBA game.
Mayo’s Freak Injury
The Milwaukee Bucks will have to go through the remainder of the season without one of their top scorers after an off-court accident that saw the 28-year-old guard end up with a fractured ankle. Mayo incurred the injury when he tripped while going down the stairs at his home.
In his absence, Chris Middleton will likely have to step along with some help from the likes of Rashad Vaughn. He joins another Bucks backcourt player in Michael Carter-Williams, who has been sidelined due to a torn hip labrum.
The Bucks are 27-38 this season and are unlikely to make the postseason wars.
Double Bogey for Chalmers
Just when Mario Chalmers seemed to have found a home, he ends up without one following a season-ending Achilles injury. Chalmers ruptured his Achilles in their game against the Boston Celtics, but worse news came when the ballclub waived the veteran guard.
The 29-year-old guard, who got a new lease on life after being acquired from the Miami Heat, incurred the injury in the third quarter of that 116-96 loss to the Celtics Wednesday.
Grizzlies team manager Chris Wallace explained why they had to waive Chalmers. According to Wallace, they had free up a roster spot for the injury-plagued roster.
Wallace said, "With Mario’s season-ending injury and our already depleted roster, it became necessary to free up a roster spot."
With the injury to Chalmers, head coach Dave Joerger will have to find a way to fill in the point guard void.
Mike Conley is already hampered by a sore left foot, which means he may have to designate ball-handling duties to the likes of Lance Stephenson, P.J. Hairston, Tony Allen or even veteran Vince Carter moving forward.
The Grizzlies are currently 38-26 in the Western Conference, which is good for fifth place.
