'NCIS' News Update: British Actor Duane Henry Cast in Male Agent Role After Michael Weatherly's Departure
British actor Duane Henry has been cast in the "NCIS" male role left by the departure of series' original Michael Weatherly.
Henry is slated to play Agent Clayton Reeves, an MI-6 officer described as bighearted and fun-loving. But word is the blue collar oriented Reeves also has quite the serious side to him, and is one who has burned many professional bridges in arriving as a newly minted member of the crew.
Through it all, the confident Reeves is also described as without regrets or second-guesses about any of his choices. Henry is reported to be signed for a recurring role through the end of season 13, with the option for a promotion to a full-time regular gig on TV's most widely watched drama series by the start of next season.
Henry: Well Known Across British Acting Circles
In Britain, Henry is known as a mainstay and for the past decade has starred on such shows as "Desperados," "The Cut" and the soap opera "Doctors." He also had a small role as a SWAT team member in "The Dark Knight Rise."
After 13 seasons, Weatherly recently announced that he would be leaving the show at the end of the season to pursue other interests. Show officials have been extremely tight-lipped as to how his Agent Tony DiNozzo character might be written out of the story line.
Meanwhile, Weatherly has already signed on to join the cast of the CBS 2016 fall pilot "Bull."
Sarah Clarke Also Added to Cast
Producers previously announced that former "24" actress Sarah Clarke is also joining the "NCIS" cast in the wake of Weatherly's exit. She is described as a no nonsense counterterrorism agent who largely plays things straightforward.
With Weatherly's exit, the only remaining original cast members are Mark Harmon as Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs, David McCallum as Donald "Ducky" Mallard and Pauley Perrette as Abby Sciuto.
