Happy Birthday, Enrique Iglesias!

Besides turning 39 years old on May 8, the International superstar has a lot to celebrate -- from the evolution of his thriving singing career to the success of his 10th studio album, released earlier this year.

The pop star was born Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler in Madrid to Julio Iglesias, the best-selling Spanish singer of all time, and Filipino actress and socialite Isabel Preysler, reports India.com. When he was 8 years old, he moved to the United States and began writing songs at the age of 15.

Iglesias studied business administration at the University of Miami for one year before he dropped out to pursue a full time music career at the age of 19.

In November 1995, he released his self-titled debut album at the age of 20, which proved to be a huge success. His single "Si Tu Te Vas" spent eight weeks at the peak, marking the start to his illustrious journey in music, reports Billboard.com. Since then, he has ruled the charts with smashes like "Enamorado Por Primera Vez," "Do You Know? (The Ping Pong Song)" and "Cuando Me Enamoro."

By the beginning of 2012, Iglesias became a cross-over star, selling more than 60 million records worldwide. Some of his greatest cross-over hits include "Bailamos," "Rhythm Divine," "Be With You," "Escape," "Maybe," "Don't Turn Off The Lights", "Taking Back My Love" and "Hero."

He currently holds the record for topping the Hot Latin Songs chart with 25 number one songs, including his latest smash "Bailando." The music video has also garnered over 27 million views within about four weeks.

The new single is featured on Iglesias' latest album "Sex and Love," which debuted at number one on Top Latin Albums on April 15, 2014. According to Nielsen SoundScan, it has fallen into the No. 2 spot for six weeks.
