Jeremy Lin in High Demand as Free Agent, Could he be Headed Back to New York Knicks?
Jeremy Lin is rumored to perhaps be back on his way to the Big Apple and the New York Knicks backcourt.
With the imminent hiring of Jeff Hornacek as the next Knicks coach, the veteran Lin is widely viewed as a much better fit for the Knicks, whom he starred with during his brief period of "Linsanity" (18 points, eight assists, two steals over 25 games) back in 2012.
Lin, Hornacek Seen as Perfect Match
The addition of Hornacek has many convinced president of basketball operations Phil Jackson may finally be ready to let go of his demands that the Knicks run the Triangle Offense that helped him to win 11 NBA titles, making Lin and perhaps other top-tier free agents more open to the idea of joining Carmelo Anthony at Madison Square Garden.
With Lin, Rajon Rondo and Mike Conley all perhaps on the Knicks radar, the team could have upwards of $30 million to spend on free agents once all the offseason wrangling begins in earnest.
Lin (11 points, three rebounds, three assists) was an integral part of the Charlotte Hornets' attack this season, as the team raced out to a franchise record 48 regular season wins and gave the favored Miami Heat all they could handle in the first round of the playoffs.
Hornacek, who starred in the Utah Jazz backcourt alongside John Stockton as a player, has a coaching history of being point-guard friendly, with his roster in Phoenix once featuring Eric Bledsoe, Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas.
Lin Sought by Multiple Teams
The 28-year-old Lin is also rumored to be drawing interest from the Hornets, San Antonio Spurs, Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets.
The Rockets are also reported to be seriously considering tabbing Mike D'Antoni for their head coaching vacancy. D'Antoni was also the Knicks coach back in 2012 when Lin first made an NBA name for himself.
