Just a day after reports confirmed Mexican soccer player Alan Pulido was kidnapped, authorities have rescued the 25-year-old.

"He Is Here"

Pulido, a striker for the Olympiakos Greek soccer team, was kidnapped in Tamaulipas, a northeasern state, which does share its northern border with Texas. Tamaulipas, unfortunately, has been stricken with violence fueling from drug gangs. Pulido was leaving a party near capital city Cuidad Victoria on Saturday. He was allegedly abducted by armed assailants, however, it is unknown who's responsible.

Once news broke of his kidnapping, federal and state efforts to find him were underway.

He was later confirmed rescued alive but notable bruises were visible.

"The most important thing is that is he is here with us," said Tamaulipas Gov. Egidio Torre Cantu to reporters on early Monday morning, according to Reuters news agency, and standing next to Pulido.

No details have yet to be revealed on the kidnapping motivations, although it occured a week before the state's next gubernatorial elections.
