Peru and Haiti will look to make a splash as they open their Copa America on Saturday in Group B on Saturday.

Neither team is fancied to make a deep run in this tournament, though Peru might have a few things to say about being an underdog. The team was the shocker of last year's Copa, putting together a convincing run that culminated in third place in the entire tournament.

Peru's Cinderella run in 2015

Peru's run to third place featured strong performances against Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. The team then came into conflict with Bolivia, ousting that side 3-1 before a 2-1 loss against Chile pushed them to a third-place date with Paraguay. In that game, Peru managed a 2-0 win to solidify a strong place among the CONMEBOL sides.

But that fantastical run has been halted by weak showing at the CONMEBOL World Cup 2018 Qualifiers. Peru currently sits six points out of a playoff spot and has just one win in six games while conceding four defeats. Peru has played well against the likes of Colombia and Chile in that competition but was simply unable to rise to the occasion against Brazil and Uruguay.

Haiti is not poised for greatness

Haiti meanwhile is one of the weaker sides in the entire tournament and is seen as the side most likely to finish dead last in the group. Haiti is participating in its first ever Copa America and has only ever won the CONCACAF Gold Cup once in its history.

History favors Peru

Peru holds the edge in this competition, winning two of four from Haiti and drawing the other two times; Haiti has scored in every game against Peru, but has conceded nine times in four matches.

Player to Watch

Paolo Guerrero was dominant in the Copa America, leading all players in scoring with four goals throughout the tournament. He is 32, but still has the ability to seize control of a game and score big goals.
