June 3, marks National Donut Day, arguably the sweetest unofficial holiday of the year.

Since 1938, the first Friday of each June has marked the occasion first started by The Salvation Army. Originally, the holiday was started as a fundraiser to aid the needy and honor all the ladies who served the tasty treats to the soldiers during World War 1.
