Persona 5, the highly anticipated next installment of the hit RPG series that's currently under development by Japanese publisher Atlus for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, finally has a release date for the U.S. Here's everything you need to know.

Persona 5 U.S. Release Date

This week, Atlus and PlayStation officially announced the release date for Persona 5 in the United States. While Atlus had already confirmed that the highly-anticipated RPG would be making it to market first in September 2016, this week we finally found out when it would be released in the U.S.

Unfortunately for big fans who can hardly wait, the next installment in the critically acclaimed Persona series won't be hitting U.S. stores until next year, specifically on Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 2017.

More Details Announced

But there's more. Not only will Persona 5 be released exclusively on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 in the U.S., it's available for pre-order now at Atlus.com/Persona5. And there are two limited edition versions of the next Persona title available with pre-order, according to the company's release picked up by PlayStation Lifestyle.

Here are the most important details on exclusive pre-order extras, and what it'll cost you.

SteelBook Launch Edition

This is only for the PlayStation 4, and costs about $60. It's an offer limited to just a few day-one purchases, while supplies last, and also available to PS4 pre-orders. It comes specially packaged in a SteelBook collectable case, decked out in designs from the Persona 5 art department.

'Take Your Heart' Premium Edition

Also available only for PS4, this costs about $90, though it's not clear if this is only for pre-orders or also available after Persona 5 is released in the U.S. next year.

It comes with the SteelBook case, along with a traditional replica Japanese school bag, a collectable outer box, a 64-page hardcover book with concept sketches, character art, and other eye candy created by designer Shigenori Soejima, and a CD with the soundtrack for Persona 5 created by composer Shoji Meguro. On top of that, you'll get a four-inch plush doll of Morgana the cat.

You may have to wait longer than expected to get your hands on the latest installment of Persona, but the extras in these premium editions might make it the patience game hurt a little less.
