Science geeks and "Big Bang Theory" fans alike can now celebrate -- the much beloved show has been extended for three more seasons. After Sheldon and the gang racked up top ratings episode after episode in the show's most recent season, CBS announced that the critically-acclaimed comedy would be renewed up to 2017. It is no surprise to fans that this would be the next step for the producers as Sheldon, Leonard, Howard, Raj, Penny, Bernadette, and Amy Farrah Fowler have continuously endeared themselves to viewers among the adult age range of 18-49 years.

Morever, this will give the show time to develop and end several major storylines, including the recently announced engagement between Leonard and Penny. Sheldon and Amy's relationship future also remains to be concluded, as well as the question of whether Raj will remain single forever.

CBS Entertainment Chairman Nina Tassler added that comedy is a big part of their schedule and "The Big Bang Theory" is the strongest player among their broadcast entertainment shows. She also mentioned how proud she is to be working with incredibly talented producers Chuck Lorre, Steve Molaro, and the amazing cast.
