Jeremy Lin Free Agency News: Lin Just Wants to be Happy in Whatever Team He Works For
After a whirlwind beginning, Jeremy Lin is looking for a measure of normalcy in his summer of free agency, insisting that it will be the little things that make the difference in what team he lands with next season.
"To me, the most important thing as a free agent is that I am happy when I play basketball or show up for work," he said. "I was happy last year, but I was not particularly happy for the first five years [as an NBA player]."
Lin later added topping his list of things to consider are who's coaching the team, the team's style, the players on the team and their chance of winning.
And then, there is the matter of his own personal goals, standards that can only be met based on the amount of overall playing time he gets and if he has a legitimate chance of cracking the team's starting lineup
Lin Looking to Make Decision After NBA Draft
Lin added that he and his agent plans to huddle up after the June 23, NBA draft and determine what teams may be in the market for a player who provides what he does and what his best options might be.
Lin looked like a natural with the Charlotte Hornets last season, averaging 12 points, three assists and three rebounds on a team that posted a franchise record 48 regular season wins.
Lin recently declined his player option to return to Michael Jordan's team, but that hardly means the Hornets are out of the running.
Lin one of Hottest Free Agents
But they are far from the only squad looking to add the veteran guard to the mix. The Brooklyn Nets, San Antonio Spurs, L.A. Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trailblazers, New York Knicks and Houston Rockets are all rumored to hold varying degrees of interest in acquiring him.
In Houston, Lin would be reunited with former coach Mike D'Antoni whom he played under with the Knicks during a 25-game stretch known as "Linsanity," where he averaged 18 points, eight assists and two rebounds.
