Jeremy Lin Weighing Options of Staying With Charlotte Hornets, Joining New York Knicks or Houston Rockets
Jeremy Lin is faced with choosing between stability, familiarity or wonderment in deciding what NBA team he will next suit up for.
The Charlotte Hornets, Houston Rockets and New York Knicks are all rumored to be among the team most aggressively pursuing the veteran free-agent swingman this offseason.
Lin Considering all Options
In the case of the Hornets, the sell for Lin would be the lure of returning to a balanced and adaptable system proven to work for him. Lin averaged 11 points, three rebounds and three assists on Michael Jordan's rising young team last season, which posted a franchise high 48 regular- season victories.
With the return of a healthy Michael Kidd Gilchrist and the continued development of the likes of guard Kemba Walker and forwards Marvin Williams and Frank Kaminsky things only figure to get better for the Hornets, provided they're able to keep Lin's steady contributions as part of the mix.
D'Antoni Formally Joins Rockets
Meanwhile, with the hiring of new Coach Mike D'Antoni, the Rockets are hopeful he and Lin can team team up to provide the the kind of spark they've already proven capable of in D'Antoni's high-octane offense.
It was under D'Antoni when he was coach of the Knicks where the legend of "Linsanity" was first born. Lin averaged 18 points, eight assists and two rebounds over a 25 game stretch in 2012, leading to the era of "Linsanity."
Rocket fans are thought to be salivating at the thought of having Lin and All-Star guard James Harden together in the same backcourt running D'Antoni's "seven seconds" or less for a shot offense.
And speaking of wonderment, how could Lin not still hold a fund place for New York and Madison Square Garden, the place where his rise all began?
The Spurs and Nets are also rumored to be interested in the 28-year-old Lin, who is reported to be seeking a long-term deal in excess of $50 million.
