NBA Playoffs 2014 Weekend Schedule, Bracket, Preview: 6 Must-Watch Games Slated for Weekend
For many basketball fans across the country, the weekend is a great chance to just relax and enjoy the best NBA games, especially during the playoffs. This weekend has six must-watch games between eight teams in the second round of the playoffs, in both the Western and Eastern conference.
Friday, May 9
Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards
This game starts Friday night at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Game three is a toss up between the No. 1 seed Pacers and the No. 5 seed Wizards. The Wizards won game one by a score of 102-96 in Indiana. Coach Frank Vogel had a difficult decision for game two. But he decided to play Roy Hibbert, and it paid off big time. Roy Hibbert scored a game high 28 points and grabbed 9 rebounds guiding the Pacers to a game two victory. Game three will be played at the Verizon Center in Washington and will be on ESPN.
Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Clippers
Another series tied 1-1. The point guard battle in this series between Russell Westbrook and Chris Paul has been must watch television. Kevin Durant was recently rewarded the NBA MVP award, and Westbrook is playing great. For the Clippers, Blake Griffin needs to improve defensively, especially rebounding. If the Clippers successfully defend home court, they will take a commanding 3-1 series lead. The Clippers biggest advantage is with coaching, led by Doc Rivers. Game three will be played at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles and will be on ESPN at 10:30 p.m.
Saturday, May 10
Miami Heat at Brooklyn Nets
The Nets swept the Heat four games to nothing in the regular season, but that doesn't mean a thing now. The Nets are down 0-2 heading back to Brooklyn. The Heat on the other hand have been perfect so far. The Heat are 6-0 so far this postseason, and with the Eastern Conference the way it is, 12-0 might not be impossible. Nets point guard Deron Williams has to play better heading back home. Game three will be played Saturday at 8 p.m. Eastern time on ABC.
San Antonio Spurs at Portland Trail Blazers
The Spurs have a great opportunity to take a huge 3-1 series lead by winning just one game in Portland. The Trail Blazers are already down 0-2 and their defense continues to hold them back. Coach Gregg Popovich has been working great with the front court of Tim Duncan and Tiago Splitter. Kawhi Leonard has been playing terrific defense in the first two games. Game three will be played Saturday at 10:30 p.m. Eastern time on ESPN at the Moda center.
Sunday, May 11
Oklahoma City Thunder at Los Angeles Clippers
NBA fans get an afternoon game here. The Thunder need to be careful in game four because, at this point, the Clippers may already have a 2-1 series lead at home. Durant knows the MVP award won't mean nearly as much if he gets eliminated in just the second round. Game four will be played 3:30 p.m. Eastern time on ABC.
Indiana Pacers at Washington Wizards
It's game four, and at this point, one of these teams will have a 2-1 series lead. If it's the Wizards, then they have a chance to take a 3-1 series lead, and the Pacers have their backs against the wall. If Pacers have the 2-1 lead going into this game, then they have a chance to completely steal back home court advantage. Game four will be played Sunday at 8 p.m. Eastern time on TNT.
