Rob Gronkowski Interview Nearly Ends After Aaron Hernandez Question
An interview with the always-entertaining New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has been getting quite a bit of attention today after he became visibly upset over the interviewer's questioning. The subject? Aaron Hernandez, of course.
"I do have to ask you, when you heard about Aaron Hernandez, what, what you thought, what your reaction was," queried CBS reporter Don Dahler.
"Uh, next question. I learned that from Drew Rosenhaus. Next question," fired back Gronkowski.
"It had to be a shock for you, it had to be a shock for all your teammates," continued Dahler.
"Next question," replied the stalwart tight end.
"Alright, then I'll ask you," said Dahler, who then turned his attention to Gronkowski's father. "It seems to me that these two men (Gronkowski and Hernandez) played on opposite sides of the line, but they had more than that, in terms of being opposites."
Gronkowski's father began to give his reply, but was promptly cut off by his son, who was visibly upset at Dahler's persistence. Gronkowski began to leave the interview before Dahler finally relented and said that he would no longer follow that line of questioning.
The subject of Aaron Hernandez has been a sore spot for both the New England Patriots and the NFL ever since he was arrested for the murder of Odin Lloyd. Prosecutors say there is an overwhelming amount of evidence that points to Hernandez as the guilty party in that murder, and possibly several others as well.
Since Hernandez was first linked to the murder of Lloyd last month, there has been a media firestorm in the Boston area. The Patriots have done their part to distance themselves from the alleged killer, both by immediately cutting him from the team as well as offering refunds on all of his jerseys.
Hernandez has long been known for his checkered past, and there had been notable concerns over his character issues ever since he entered the draft out of the University of Florida. While teamed with Gronkowski the two became the most feared tight end duo in the league.
